Can SFX PSU Power an ATX Motherboard?

Someone wants to buy my power supply off me and I'm looking to move to an itx build. I don't have enough to fully change out my system so I was wondering if I'd be able to buy the SFX power supply I want: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256084 and hook it up to my current system on my asrock ATX motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293

Is this possible? Pcpartpicker doesn't flag it but I want to be sure.

Yes, the SFX power supply has all the same connections as a normal ATX power supply.

If you can mount it . it has all the needed connections.

Hooking an SFX psu to an ATX mobo is no problem. Like nukemaster said, the connections are the same. Mounting an SFX psu to an ATX case could be difficult, though, because the mounting holes probably won't line up, unless you've got a special case that can take either an ATX or an SFX psu.

Awesome, and is it dangerous to leave a PSU unmounted inside a desktop that doesn't move (for a few weeks tops)

As long as you don't bump it around it should be fine.

The power supply comes with a plate to mount it in a normal case anyway(sure it is a bit thin, but it gets the job done).

You do not need to worry about anything.
