The purpose will be gaming, running basic windows office, light programming, and maybe CAD.
Is the i7 worth the uprade?
8gb or 16gb of ram?
If there are better parts then please give your opinion. Thanks.

For your case, I'd get 16Gb of RAM before getting the i7. You should be okay with 8Gb. Looks like you'll be using 2x4 so you'll have room to get more if you need it.

I think it looks great. Just be careful not to overtighten the Hyper 212 when installing. I don't know much about CAD but if the computer is primary for gaming, the i5 should suit you well.

If you only maybe use for CAD, then just keep the i5, if you are 100% sure you will use CAD then upgrade to i7 or Xeon E3-1230 V3 or E3-1231 V3, and 16GB RAM, because Xeon is as same as the i7 ( not all the i7) but it has lower price tag.

And otherwise the parts are fine.

+1 for this. If you aren't going to OC the Xeon version will save you some money.
