So my laptop will boot up and the windows startup sound effect plays like normally and everything, but the screen is completely black. I've tried several things like connecting to an external monitor, power resetting and testing if the RAM is the problem, but nothing worked. Another possible solution recommended on this forum (http://ccm.net/forum/affich-49172-screen-doesn-t-display) by user "chris9431" (scroll down a bit) recommended to people facing this problem to update their BIOS, I've also seen this being recommended elsewhere, so I figured I'd give it a shot, but I'm facing some issues.

So far I've formatted my USB drive using FAT32 and created a DOS startup disk on the drive. I used this video when doing this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfJKZKWHFZc
However the video states that in the zip file from the PC manufacturer should contain a BIOS update file with a .rom or .bin file, however, the BIOS update zip folder I downloaded from Acer's website only included two folders, "DOS" and "Windows". The DOS folder had a file named "ZQ1_125.EXE" and the Windows folder had a file named "ZQ1_125W.exe".

What should I do now? Do I put both of the exe files on the USB drive and do a sequence of keys? What sequence of keys should I even press or do on an Acer PC? I really need help with this, so thanks for any answers. Also, my laptop is an Acer Aspire 4820TG aka Acer Aspire Timeline X 4820TG.

If laptop boots, then create the bootable usb, with automated flash commands in the autoexec.bat.

Remove the HDD so it will fall back to USB boot device.

I've tried to make a bootable usb, that's one of the things i'm struggling with and that's why I'm asking for help. Also, what do you mean "in the autoexec.bat"? Where is the autoexec.bat? I'll see if I can remove the HDD, but that doesn't help if the files in the zip I got from Acer is only .exe files and nothing else.
