This started to happen can anyone pls help me
Intel motherboard
Gtx 660 tI 2gb gpu
I5 2350 cpu
500 watt power supply
500 gig hard drive

Reset the bios. There is directions to do so in the mobo manual. Try that and report back. You can also try removing the mobo battery but a bios reset is also needed.

I just reset the bios and it powered down just the same. While I was in the bios I also saw my cpu was at 97 Celsius.

97. That is burn up temps. Did your fans stop? Do you have too much or not enough thermal paste? Is the cooler on right?

The fan works but when I took the fan off of the cpu I noticed there was little to no thermal paste could that be it?

Yes. Hopefully you did not damage the CPU. There should be a pea sized amount check youtube for videos showing how much you need.

That makes sense it's been about 2 years since I applied thermal paste
