I was dusting off my monitor and a little bit of fluid shot out of the compressed air can onto my screen.

I wiped it off but was wondering if this could damage the screen because of tge chemicals or the possibility of thermal shock (the stuff is apparently super cold when it comes out).

I use compressed air from a can quite a bit....and I've never had it damage anything that I can recall.

Although the idea is to not let that happen....and holding the can vertical usually prevents the liquid from coming out as liquid.
That's what confuses me because the can 100% was vertical. Stuff usually only shoots out if it is totally sideways or upside down.

Maybe the button was pressed when it was sideways before you pressed it when it was vertical and there was still some liquid in the tube.

OR....maybe there is just something wrong with the can.

but as I said...I've had it happen....and it never hurt anything.
