I am getting a 43" 4K UHD IPS LED MONITOR and a Dell XPS Desktop - Intel i7-7700K OC, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD Plus 2TB HDD, NVIDIA GTX 1080 8GB Graphics, Windows 10. I want to know is this enough to run video in 4K? Note I do not want to use it for gaming but just watch 4k YouTube videos and 4k Pornhub.

Solution
Any GPU capable of displaying 4k can play 4k videos using software decoding in the CPU.

nVidia since Maxwell have been able to hardware-accelerate H.264 4k videos because they have VDPAU Feature Set E

Your 1080 supports Feature Set H so can hardware decode VP9 4k videos too, and even H.265 8k videos.

At the moment, Youtube has stopped encoding new 4k videos in H.264 in favor of VP9. And that other place seems to be moving from H.264 in Flash to H.264 in HTML5. H.265 seems to be pretty rare yet, due perhaps to licensing fees.
