I'm not going to OC.
Mainly going to use for light gaming with some photoshop.
Mainly looking to add some ram, upgrade the gpu, and I may add water cooling down the line, also should I get a higher wattage psu now? Or will I even need to upgrade it?
The case is from my old build I was going to use, but I'm going to keep that built for my wife, so any good recommendations?
Budgets about $1100

Solution

I second this build. It will outlast and outperform what you have and doesn't cost that much more than what you have selected.

1. Can't OC, that's a locked cpu. You'd need to upgrade to a K version.
2. Ram upgrades no worries. Z mobo, so unless you run into speed issues with the cpu, you can run as high or as much as you'll need to.
3. Gpu upgrade is no worries, it's pcie 3.0 x16 mobo, so anything current or future will work until they change the slot.
4. Liquid cooling, maybe. OC is not the only cause of excessive heat, high core-high cpu usage, basically rendering/compiling loads, can do the same thing. If you find that that's what you are doing more and more and temps/noise is just unsatisfactory, a larger cooler would be a good upgrade idea. A decent 240/280mm or big air like a Noctua NH-D15/S would basically eliminate any thoughts of higher temps for and load usage and remain next to silent.
5. That psu is good enough with that cpu to power a gtx1080 easily, so unless you have plans for 4k gaming or 1440p/144Hz at ultra settings, then basically you are golden with that choice.
6. Cases, like keyboards and mice, are highly personal and subject to all kinds of influences and opinions. If that HAF works for you, cheers. Nobody but you and the Mrs. has to look at it, or live with it.
