Can Trojan Horses be a DLL file instead of an .exe file?

My friend was asking me if the trojan horse detected by his AV is a false positive since it is a dll file instead of .exe file. As far as I know trojans are just .exe files. He also says this is from a game he downloaded from a torrent site. So is this a false positive?

Can a trojan be contained in a dll? Absolutely.

Is a dll, being reported by your AV, from a downloaded torrented game, a false positive? Almost certainly not.

Torrented games are one of the prime vectors for virus, trojan, and other malware.
Your friends PC is infected.
