I own an Asus G75VX gaming laptop. On the label near the palm rest, it says "nvidia 3DTV play", even though the laptop's monitor itself has no 3D compatibility.

After connecting to the 3D TV (assuming all 3D TVs have 120Hz refresh rate), I tried changing the monitor's refresh rate, but there was no 120Hz option.

Where do i check? I don't know the model of my tv. Is there a way to check in settings or something? I have a Samung 50 inch 3D TV.

Err.. So its actually 2 seperate 60hz? If the TV is 120hz, why can't it run at 120hz? How do people get games to run at 120hz?

If the TV can only play at 60FPS, can i use 3D with my laptop for games, since 3DTV is labeled on my laptop's palm rest?

Monitors can accept a 120 Hz signal, TV's (most) can't. 24 FPS per eye (frame packing) watching a movie. 24 * 5 = 120. It's an even number, unlike on 60 Hz panels, where it's forced to use a technique called 3:2 pulldown. Does your laptop have a 3d blu ray player? From what I can see, it doesn't look like it. Just 120 Hz, which allows for 60 FPS per eye playing games creating the 3d effect. Nvidia 3d glasses are required.

What I know is that my laptop does not have 3D compatibility, as for if i have a blu-ray player or not, I'm not sure. I do have a "DVD multi recorder" though. I need Nvidia glasses? My TV is a Samsung with 3D though.. It came with its own 3D glasses.

I have the 60hz one. But why do I have the 3dTV icons labeled on my palm rest then?

Ahh.. okay then. So this means that the 3D tv cannot play games in 3d?

Also, since I'm already asking, do you know why the screen does not fit properly via the HDMI port on aspect ratio 16:9? Both screens are 1080p.
