Can two processors benefit to a single process?

I am wondering if i was to place a second processor onto my motherboard and set it up all correctly, would lets say firefall (a downloadable game) be able to use power from both two processors and a multi-range of cores,

E.G

I have two CPUs in my system and both are quad cores and are both the same processor, could i run let the game use the total of 8 cores from the two processors and then play it?


to be precise on which cpu in the future i'd choose, it would be another Intel xeon x5355 because its the best that my motherboard can use, and the one is doing pretty well but the power to use another would be awesome.

No. If you look at the usage of the most modern games they will max out one core and use about 30 to 40% of the others. So, at best, nowdays, a six core is really pushing what is even approaching needed for the most demanding games. If the game is a single process, then you will be much better off with a fast overclock on a new processor.

Ok thanks, would my duel core at 2.99 Ghz be better than my quad core at 2.66 GHz, the are pretty much all the same other than number of cores and freq.
