Question Can Wifi Behave as Mobile data in Android

Some apps support mobile data rather than wifi. I have an active wifi but I want it to behave as mobile data so the apps which do not support wifi find the wifi working disguised as mobile data. i believe it's possible in root coding of android but is there a simpler way?

i've never seen an app that distinguished between mobile vs wifi. the only thing i can think of is google play store not liking to download large apps on cell data.

can you give a few examples of apps that have this issue? this would help see what you're asking about. posting some screenshots of error messages would also help figure out what might be going on.
