Can Windows ruin a graphic card?

Hi,

I had a weird experience lately. I'm using windows 10.

I just upgraded my system with a Asus Strix 1050TI 4G VGA. And it was working fine for around a month. Then one day When I boot up the system, the computer won't give me right click menu on the desktop. But the start menu was working fine. Then I ran a game (GTA V). Then after about 5 minutes my GPU pops and computer shut down. after that it wasn't working. Then when I removed the card it had a broken piece of some electronic component.

I RMA the card and still waiting for the replacement.

My question is, can windows ruin my graphic card or was it just a problem of the GPU.

My build is

Core i5 3470 @3.6GHz
Gigabyte B75 DH3 mobo
G skill - sniper 8GB (4X2) DDR3
Raidmax RX550 PSU
1080p monitor

Windows can't ruin a GPU. YOU yourself can, by overvolting, overclocking, poorly fitted custom cooler etc, but Windows itself doesn't have that sort of low-level control over a GPU.
