[SOLVED] Can you convert a headset 's 3.5 audio jack to USB directly?

Hi-
Can a headset's audio jack be converted to USB without having a soundcard inline? I am trying to adapt my headset so it can use a USB port.
I looked online and it seems like all the adapters have sound cards built in. It would be nice to just use my laptop's existing card.

No, USB is not an analog connection like the signal you get from a 3.5 mm jack.
You need a driver to use something with USB.
What's wrong with connecting your headset to the laptop with the 3.5 mm jack?
