Hey guys, a friend of mine has been having internet problems. I've suspected it's his router - It's the router his ISP gave him when they joined up. He gets around 5MBps on download, and 4-6MBps on the upload speed. He lives in Turkey, and I was wondering if his router is indeed the problem, if there is a vastly better one for a not-so-expensive price? Thanks.

He says it's a TP-Link 150MBps Kablosuz ADSl2+ Modem Router - He experiences frequent disconnections too, and if there is even a generally better router that can fix those problems, it would be appreciated.

Your friend must check with his phone company what modems / combos are supported on their network. If the answer is "Any ADSL modem will work", then we can start making suggestions.

I would avoid combo devices. It might cost him little bit more to get separate modem and router, but in the long run he will be free to choose any router he likes, without being tied to DSL part (and could reuse the router when / if he switches to cable or fiber).
The problem might be with the fact that his Internet comes over ADSL (phone line). And the device he has is combo modem / router device, and there aren't that many of them, with most routers these days made to work with separate modem (or fiber adapter).

Ask your friend to disconnect all phone sets in the house, and check stability of the router. If it works OK, lets him make sure all phone sets have ADSL filters connected.

Hm, ok. I`ll ask him to give that a try. So, does that mean he would have to buy not only a new router, but a modem? If he does have to do so, are there any superior, cheap Router/Moden combos compared to what he has? Thanks.
