Can you help me? FX 8350 CPU performance in gaming

Hello! I have an FX 8350 & AMD Radeon R9 290X.
I am not satisfied with AMD CPUs performance this year. Is it possible, that DirectX12 will help getting more FPS with AMD CPUs? As you can see, even an i3 can beat AMD this year... What is this? Is the FX 8350 that bad? I do not have enough money to switch to i7 or i5.
What do you think? Will the FX processors' performance be better next year? Will the games be optimised better for AMD CPUs?

How well can your cpu do with Mantle? overclocked? underclocked? dx12 will be better for every cpu
