Can you help me pick a career?

I'm 30 and have nothing and am nowhere. But I am an intelligent, resourceful person looking for something I can enjoy doing. Please help

One of my nicest bosses once told me,
"Pick a career where YOU would be willing to pay them to let you come to work everyday"
Very wise, but very hard to do.

My thoughts are more along the lines of,
"If it wasn't a pain in the ass, they wouldn't be paying me to do it for them"

I do understand how you feel, I only have a few Microsoft certifications, and no degree.
I think the first thing you should do is write down what you like to do. then write a list of what you do not want to do in a job function. this will help determine what job titles to look at. The list should be both generic but detailed.

I knew what I wanted to do ever since I was 11. I have a hard time understanding how people don't know what they like to do, but that actually seems to be the most common.

I'm always curious about topics like these.
