Hello,
I have a 1080p monitor and I want to get a new one. I am between a 1080p 144hz and a 1440p 144hz. I know my graphics card can't run 1440p at 144 fps at max settings, so I would like to experiment with the settings in the games I play to see how they run at 1440p. If they don't perform well even in lower settings, I will get the 1080p model. The problem is that my monitor is 1080p, so the games' maximum resolution is 1080p.
Is there any way I can run the games at 1440p even if my monitor is 1080p?
Thanks.

Monitors are typically the least often upgraded parts so if you have the budget for a 1440P/144hz monitor then that's what I'd get even if you can't fully utilize the refresh rate of the monitor currently as eventually later on you'll end up upgrading the CPU/GPU and be able to use the monitor to the fullest.
