Can you run games on linux? (CoD, Battlefield 3, WoW)

debating whether to do windows or linux on my new gaming machine realized maybe it doesn't even run them.

Windows. If it's just for gaming then don't bother looking any further unless you enjoy pain and suffering or are happy to play WoW exclusively.
