Can you start computer without Hard drive

So I built a computer for myself but the my ssd is having problems in the shopping and won’t get here for another week but I want to use it now. Is there a way I could just use a usb drive with windows to boot it up and use that usb as my storage device for now?

Windows, No.
Linux, Yes.

You could boot a Windows install USB, but you won't get very far.
Linux, you could run the actual OS from a USB.
