Brought this card and saw one of the caps had burnt out, there are 2 others on the board that are the same size and fine. I have found out that its a tantalum capacitor but i dont know the volts? or the uF

Any help would save my life :)

I think it will work....but where did you come up with the +/- 10%?

....and if the old one is +/- 10% I would go with that for the new one.....although in reality it most likely doesn't matter.

In general....you can be pretty loose with capacitor values.

I think the +/- 10% or +/- 20% means how much you can over power it.

So i have been pulling apart old crap from my house and found a 6.3v 330uF capacitor, is that fine to use seeing as it covers the 0uf - 100uf range???

If thats not cool then what object might have a 3.6v 100uF cap in it? or is it just luck.......... i got 1 from like 6 boards lol

Thank you for all your help jay. So i have found a 16v 100uf lead cap, have i finally cracked the puzzle? lol please say this will work (its from an old xbox one)
