Serious question doing some redneck/hillbilly stuff at the moment.

I mean take it off and use it. The whole 9.

Update: I did and it works like any other PC fan would. 10/10 would recommend taking apart ur family's old desktop and sacrificing its CPU fan to ur new PC to work as an exhaust slave.

Like a heatsink? No. There's no way to mount it in the case, unless you rig up some McGuyver stuff... I mean it does plug in to the motherboard like all other case fans would. It's the mounting that's the issue, and the size also. Most case fans are suited for 120/140/200mm fan configurations.

I went downstairs to grab an old CPU fan from an old 2009 Emachine computer. It was connected to the heatsink of course which was packed, and when I say packed I mean PACKED with dust. A good inch of dust was all over the fan and the heatsink. I managed to pry off the fan from the heatsink. I now had a dusty Cooler Master fan to clean. I spent 2-3 hours cleaning the living shit out of it to make sure that I got every speck of dust off. I then realized I had no bolts to connect it to the back of my case and duct tape would not stick. But another fan that I put in was too big so I did not use the rubber inserts that they gave me. Instead I used them for this fan. I now have a whole cooling system in my Desktop. Rigged like no other. I am surprised there were 2 4 pin CPU connectors side by side. The fan works like a champ keeping the airflow going and taking my temps down on everything by 18-20 degrees Celsius. If someone does not think you can do this you definitely can.

McGuyver out.
