Can you use external hard drives on PS4

So I was planning to pick up a Playstation 4. I currently have a Xbox one and I use my 4TB External to install my games on since I have ran out of space on the internal Xbox HDD I was wondering can you install games on to your external on ps4?

It was probably a given, but we now know that while the PlayStation 4 supports external storage (like the PlayStation 3 before it), we won’t be able to use that storage to play downloaded games.
