Hi people,
I have a problem with viewing folders on my NT BDC.
Basically, I am upgrading the domain and when I disconnect the PDC from the
network and the BDC (there are two of these) take over, I can access shares
on all servers except for one of the BDC's. If I click on Start - Run and
type in \\machine name I get prompted for credentials. I have tried the
domain admin credentials as well as other accounts and nothing works. I can
ping the BDC by both name and IP address.
The BDC is Windows NT Server with SP6A.
Any ideas?

Thanks
Sean

I am assuming the error is "access denied"?
Can you logon locally to the BDC with the
account you are using to connect to the
machine?

Hi There,
Thanks for the response and sorry for the delay.
In answer to your questions...
When I enter in my credentials I get no message back. The credentials field
simply reappears again after a few seconds.
I can log on to the server locally with the same credentials.

I've noticed that by going start - run and typing \\ipaddress I can see the
window with the shares.

Thanks
sean

Open a dos prompt on the problem BDC and run
net accounts. Now look at the value of the computer
role field. Verify it says BDC.
