Someone please help, I've been at this for hours to no avail.

Tried my hand at installing a new cpu fan which included removing my mobo. I thought it went well until now.

I keep getting "reboot and select another boot device". My HDD and optical drive are both recognised in the BIOS.
I've tried everything, reset CMOS settings, different sata ports, literally everything I can find online and nothing. Same error message.

Someone please help!!

I don't have any other hard drives, and I bought the PC secondhand without the windows 10 disc. Am I screwed?

Not really, you can download windows 10 from Microsoft and put it on a USB drive(there are hundreds of tutorials on google how to do that) and try installing it that way, it's a really easy process.

But will still cost me money right? That's what I'm trying to avoid. I'd rather a $40 cpu fan not set me back $200 you know?

Do you have a USB drive?, Do you have a friend with an internet connection? if both answeres are yes then it will not cost you any money, Microsoft lets you stay with a unactivated copy of windows 10 with no problem. The hole point of this is to see if the os is really the problem, is not supposed to cost you anything.

Follow below steps.

Restart your computer.
Press the necessary key to open BIOS menu. This key depends on your computer manufacturer and computer model. ...
Go to the Boot tab.
Change the boot order and list your computer's HDD first. Boot Selection Menu.
Save the settings.
Restart your computer.

Try to switch your bios from UEFI to legacy and see if that helps for this problem.

FIIIINALLY worked by enabling UEFI. Is there a way to put the USB boot stuff on my hdd in case this happens again?
Thank you for all your help by the way!

Also, slightly unrelated but my CPU is still sitting at 45C while idle, with the fan speed only at 468rpm. Will the new fan increase as it gets hotter or should I manually adjust something?
