Cannot boot after Win 10 update

I am running an Alienware 17 laptop. A couple days ago I updated and restarted my system. When I did, it went into the update loop a couple times and then into diagnosing why it could not boot.

Since then, I cannot boot. I cannot do system restore, I cannot refresh or reinstall windows, or even use software like EasyRE or EasyBCD. I have run through cmd to fix boot, fix mbr, sfc scan now, everything. In the end, its like the windows boot is gone.

I was able to put a different HDD with a copy of windows on it into my lapto as a seconday drive (replacing my normal second drive), and boot there and use that to copy all of my files. Everything was there, in tact, and just fine. Even still have the recovery partition.

However, I cannot boot into recovery unless I am missing something.

I would love to be able to fix the issue, but I cannot seem to do that. bootrec shows no windows install, and when I rename and rebuild and it fines the windows install and try to rebuild boot, it says it completed but fails to save it that way.

In the end I have my files backed up, and I am given in to the belief that I am just going to need to reinstall windows.

However, I do not want just a fresh install. I want to try and use recovery to reinstall to factory settings. The normal windows troubleshooter that loads wont let me go into troubleshoot and reinstall windows even without keeping my files. Keeps saying there is an error and cannot complete.

I am many built in programs that came with my system, including setups for using an ssd and other things. I just don't want to go through the hassle here.

Not to mention I do not know how I would install windows and still be able to keep the OEM license I had. I don't want to have to pirate something I own or use an activator.

Can someone offer some advice on what to do?

OK.
Normally, the OS would go on the SSD.
But that 64GB SSD is too small.

I wonder...was that little SSD supposed to be a cache drive for the larger HDD?
Understandably it's not ideal to have to do a clean install, but your Master Boot Record (MBR) is hosed. You can try repairing it, but sometimes the damage is too severe, and your MBR has to b replaced outright. All other methods of 're-installing Windows' will not do this, only a clean installation.

A Clean Install will work if steps are followed properly, you may need to reset your BIOS back to factory defaults. If it still doesn't work you'll need to contact the manufacturer as they likely have to do work on the Motherboard.

If you are able to load into Windows, be sure to back up your PC immieidately. This will prevent data loss in the future. Free tools like Rollback Rx and Macrium Reflect work great.

I am thinking I surely need to reinstall. Agreed there. My system is fine otherwise. I put a different HDD into my system that has windows on it and can load just fine. using it now. I can access my old HDD with all my files and already backing them up to an external drive. Just about got it all done. So, the hardware seems to be fine. Just the boot of windows is the only issue. blegh.

I used the windows tool to make a bootable win 10 usb.As for drives, it has a 64gb ssd, a 1tb hdd (my storage drive) and a 750gb primary hdd for my windows install and primary files. I also have about 12+ Tb in external HDDs.
