Windows 10 Pro, Intel Compute Stick

The Compute Stick comes with an onboard WiFi adapter, but its underpowered and ill suited for my need, so i purchased the AC6210 to use instead. The primary use for this setup is to remotely control the Compute Stick via Remote Desktop.

To this end, I've been using the netsh command-line utility to create a hosted network. Even though i've done everything i can think of to avoid it - uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, using 3rd party software solutions, disabling devices - the utility WILL NOT stop defaulting to hosting the network via the onboard adapter. If i disable the onboard adapter, the utility just returns a "you dont have anything plugged in" error.

Running "netsh wlan show driver" with the NetGear adapter enabled does show that the NetGear is up and running and the driver does have hosted network support.

So, okay, what am I doing wrong here?

Your post is confusing. The Intel Compute Stick and Netgear AC6210 are two completely different products that perform completely different roles. So I am not sure how the Netgear Wifi adapter would be used instead of the compute stick.

You may find it easier to use a WiFi router to setup your network instead of trying to use Ad-Hoc.

?

I'm using the Netgear adapter as a replacement for the adapter that comes onboard the Intel Compute Stick. It plugs into the Stick's USB port.
