Cannot find operating system, windows 7

Hello,
I've pulled my harddrive out and plugged it into a new machine, it works just fine. yet my computer cannot find my operating system. what could be causing this, and how can it be fixed?

You need to do a clean install of windows 7 on the computer you relocated the drive to.

I only relocated it to that computer to make sure it works, I do not intend to leave it there. I want to fix the original machine.

this is GREAT INFORMATION. thank you, oh thank you Area51! I'm going to follow these directions right now, because it really sounds like this is the fix.

I'll let you know for sure in a bit, but was so excited I wanted to *hug you right now

this did not help me. oh sadface.

I thought, I'll just reformat, make a new partition and re-install windows7. I keep getting the notice that 'Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partion. see setup log files for more info'
