I have two 3TB HGST NAS drives installed in a Newertech Guardian Maximus enclosure. When I first received them I formatted each of them to one 3TB partition and then zeroed them out completely using Disk Utility. I then backed up my iMac using Carbon Copy Cloner to one of the hard drives. I am running OSX Mavericks
At some point after that I screwed up setting the DIP switches and accidentally turned on the 2TB feature on the RAID board. I now have two 3TB drives that only show 2.2TB of storage.
I have tried Disk Utility, connecting via USB 2.0 and FW800 to my iMac and USB 3.0 to my MBA and nothing will fix it. I even connected them to a Windows 8.1 machine and could not fix the problem.
Are these drives ruined? I need 3TB of storage. Should I buy new drives? Any help is appreciated.
