Cannot get my cloned drive to work in boot process

Hoping somebody knows disk drive cloning better than me. I'll describe what I'm trying to do and have done so far.

Objective:

I'm trying to replace a small 250gb ssd with a larger 1tb ssd. I'm looking to clone using acronis migrate easy. The only oddity is that my system files are held on a separate data drive that I must have had plugged in when I originally installed windows a while ago ( see image below ).

Done so far:

I cloned the 250gb C: drive onto the new drive. When I run the cloning process, acronis says that the larger 1tb ssd will become C: after completion. I've done this a few times in different ways ...

Try 1: I cloned the drive ... it said complete ... I then removed the old 250gb drive prior to reboot. The data drive with system files on it was left on. I could not boot as it said I was missing a device. I could only boot after adding the old 250gb drive back. The 250gb drive was still labelled C: when I checked after the boot.

Try 2: I started over and recloned my drive ... it said complete ... I left all drives on this time and rebooted. It rebooted fine, but the old drive is now still listed as my C: drive. I try shutting down and removing the old 250gb drive and reboot ... back to same problem again ... missing device and I can only boot by having the old drive on.

No matter what I try, the old drive wants to be the C: drive and there is no recognition in my boot priority to specify my new drive as boot. And whatever is happening along the way, the boot files are associated with my old drive and I cannot get them associated with my new drive.

Is this because my windows files are split onto two drives? Or is there a simple step I'm missing along the way.

Any help very much appreciated and here is a snapshot of what my drives always end up looking like after cloning ( C: is the drive I'm trying to replace ... F: is the new drive I want to use ... E: is my data drive that will stay ).

When you say bios, I assume you mean pressing delete as I'm booting up ( del for Asus mb ). I then get that old style menu. But the only option I see relating to this is my 'boot priority' list ... and it does not recognize the new ssd or show it in that list, so I cannot choose it. Is there another option you are referring to?

Still fighting with this after many hours.

Does anyone know if the fact that I hold my system files on a different disk from my boot files, is a problem when cloning? I am keeping the drive with the system files on and available.

Ended up doing a fresh install of windows. Pretty sure that having my system and boot files split onto separate discs was messing with the cloning. Not sure why or how, but tried all else. Solved.
