Ok after I made this post last night, Things have changed. Earlier today, I was messing with my computer (just browsing the net) and all of a sudden my monitor flickered a couple of times and when it quit the resolution had changed. Nothing I did ... it just changed on its own.
So I went back to device manager and the video adapter was properly listed as ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics card. And instead of the Microsoft basic driver, Here is what was listed when I check SysInfo

Where it came from and how it managed to get to my computer is a mystery to me... Maybe an automatic update by Microsoft ...
