Cannot Load BIOS Windows Vista

Hey Guys,

Basically, I have just finished my first build. Boots up, but then i get a quick flash of a blue screen.

I've pressed Del which takes me to a black start up screen with safe mode etc, but no option for Bios.

I've tried f2 etc but all i get are advanced options?

When it does try and load windows, it comes up with a blue screen for a second with some number on and then dies again?

Running 2 HDDS, 1 is brand new, 1 is an old one with vista on, and a load of old stuff i want to recover.

1. Unlikely that your old Vista drive will actually boot up with your new hardware
2. Getting into the BIOS happens long before the OS wants to start. Has nothing to do with Vista.

What motherboard is it? What is the key to press to get into the BIOS as it starts up?

No key seems to work, its either Del, F2 or F8

Do you think I should buy a new OS, unplug the old HDD and try booting it like that?

All I want from the old HDD are some pictures.

Entering BIOS Setup
Power on the computer and the system will start the Power On Self Test (POST)
process. When the message below appears on the screen, press <DEL> key to enter
BIOS:
Press <Del> to run BIOS setup, or <F11> to run boot menu
If the message disappears before you respond and you still need to enter BIOS,
restart the system by turning the computer OFF then back ON or pressing the RESET
button. You may also restart the system by simultaneously pressing <Ctrl>, <Alt>, and
<Delete> keys.
MSI additionally provides two methods to enter the BIOS setup. You can click the
“GO2BIOS” tab on “MSI Fast Boot” utility screen or press the physical “GO2BIOS"
button (optional) on the motherboard to enable the system going to BIOS setup
directly at next boot.

Unless you want to use Vista (ewwww), yes, you will need a new OS for your new PC.

I've tried what you recommended and it still does not work. I can only get the MSI mobo screen up when the HDD is disconnected?

Okay, F11 boots up the z97 settings screen now..

OK, good.
You'll still need an actual OS. That Vista won't run on your new hardware.

Only seems to boot the HDD if i put it via sata 4? Weird.

I will order a new OS this week and give it a go.

I think the old HDD may also have a virus on so.. lol

A neighbor of mine had a 64bit version that I used, booted up fine!
Currently installing everything now.

Will have to see what happens with old HDD after
