cannot locate drive from command prompt

from the command prompt I see this:

x:\windows\system32>

if I type in C: , I get this:

"The system cannot find the drive specified."

If i mount this C: drive to another computer, I can see/open this drive as E:

How do I locate the drive from command prompt and change its letter back to C: ?

Windows 10 on this desktop pc is stuck in bootloop which is limiting what I can do.

The x drive is just a temporary mount in memory for the recovery environment.

You can see list of drives by typing "echo list volume | diskpart" and press Enter

Actulaly if this is the PE Recovery environment then it reassigns your drive letters in the environment only so it will show your C: drive as X: because it makes C: the temporary mount for the PE recovery environment.

Thus your drive letters are not the issue.

Have you tried doing a repair install of windows?

I'm assuming its because there is no "C" drive it is the "X" drive. You could just rename the drive: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/rename-a-drive

However having the drive show up as X: is not an issue in itself but the boot loop is. The Windows 10 boot loop is a known issue. See this answer as it has both of the solutions that help: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2587586/windows-boot-loop.html

Repair install does not work, after a few minutes it takes me to the advanced troubleshooting page

So I should try Bootrec.exe and use the /FixBoot option?

First is: list volume. So, what is the list?
Eg. the letter C for Windows partition is not relevant, that partition must be active.
