Cannot run swf from desktop

I am using Win7 Ult 64 bit. Whenever I try to run a swf file from my desktop with programs like swiff player they always say that I do not have flash installed. But I do, I can use FF to watch youtube vids and etc. When I open the swf file with FF it plays just fine, but I cannot use flash movie player or swiff player. Also I don't seem to have Adobe's flash player.

I have installed/uninstalled/reinstalled Adobe Flash at least 5-10 times.

Why don't you just not run them from your Desktop if this is the case? Possibly just a bug with your current system setup, if it bothers you that much then reinstall Windows.
