CANNOT SAVE FILES TO AN EXTERNAL hdd

Hello, I recently upgraded to an SSD in my laptop so I bought an internal to external hard drive adaptor for my old hdd. The problem is that I cannot save any new files to this drive any more and it doesn't make any sense. I have full control of the drive and admin rights(which I changed through the security tab) but still....

Maybe after using the external enclosure with your old laptop HDD, the system is recognizing it as a foreign drive that you don't have access to. However, I believe you can still take ownership of the drive through the adapter. Hopefully, that will gain you access to your files. If it still doesn't help, check if you will be able to see them, if you plug the HDD internally via SATA to another computer.

your post is lacking many details that would be helpful to successful troubleshooting. For example, is the new SSD replacing the HDD? Did you clone the disk? Did you install a new O/S? With which drive are you having difficulty, the SSD or HDD? What is the error message you're receiving? How big are the two disks, separately? I could go on...
