Hello guys,

I need to Reinstall W10 on my Desktop, HP 8000 Elite SFF.

It has Legacy BIOS.

For ages, I have been trying to use Rufus to burn the ISO to a USB Flash Drive, using MBR under Partition Scheme.

So far, I find it impossible to select MBR; I cannot de-select GPT.

Can anyone give me a step-by-step tutorial on how to achieve this, please?.

This site does not allow me to attach a photo.

Thank you.

The partition scheme of the iso and usb is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is that the partition scheme of the disk on which windows will be installed is GPT. If you're not sure about the target disk's GPT status, you can use any disk analysis or maintenance program (e.g. gparted) to check the status of the target disk.

I just used Rufus 3.3.1400 to put Windows Server 2022 Data center on a USB. After selecting the ISO it switched from MBR to GPT in partition scheme, but there is a little pull down and am able to select MBR.

I also checked with a windows 7 & 11 iso and was able to select MBR on both.

Many thanks for all suggestions.

I could not burn Media Creation tool to MBR with Rufus 3.21p.exe.

I used RufuS 3.0.1304
to burn ISO and it went to MBR without my input.

I used the USB to Re-install W10.

However, Drive C \ is 465 GB, and it is now showing, ‘83.6 GB free of 465GB’.

I have Re-installed windows before, never encountered this issue.

All folders are empty, except for MS Edge and Epic Browser.

Shall I Erase, OR Re-install?
Thank you.

Thanks again.

Issue resolved.

I just re-installed the Flash drive, repeated the procedure, and realised that the Primary Drive was not initially deleted. Deleted it.

Machine running perfectly now.
