Cannot update BIOS, error "File not found in BIN"

i have a dell inspiron 530, i changed the mother board and processor out. i now have the GM33 board that allows quad core 775 processors to be used.

im stuck on BIOS update 1.0.013 and i cant update to 1.0.18 so i can update my video drivers.


HELP! please!

Have you tried to update bios from windows?

The video updates are dependent upon a BIOS update?

yes Rainman, it took me a long time to figure it out too. well, on my machine it is. i get an INF invalid file when trying to update the video drivers

correction, it says "This Bin file is not for this system" which semi makes sense, since i changed out the motherboard and CPU.

i did alot of reading and it mentions updating the chip set, but i have tried that too. doesnt work either

Then try this , download cpu-z and see what exactly your mobo is.
Edit: cause you maybe downloaded wrong one.

um i downloaded the cpu-z and it gave me a bunch of other things, Geekbuddy and 360 total security ,nothing showing cpu-z.....

Well you should have been carefull when installign 3rd party softwares ........

i went back to that link, i looked it over and yes the one i clicked was their advertisement, i was in a rush and sloppy, i restored and found the right link, i will check it again when i get back home. thanks

can you tell from that info which exact BIOS drivers i need?

hard to find ........... you should go to dell official site and go here

and select "DETECT PRODUCT" and it should detect it as your PC is Dell.I still havent met with Dell PC's.

it doesnt because i changed the original motherboard and processor from what they built in 2007.

thats why im having such issues, their drivers are looking for a different motherboard. its crazy that its this hard. i would love to pull the trigger and buy a new setup but i just bought a new car and my other just broke the transmission last weekend so im having to buy another.

it doesnt thats the thing, it used to but it doesnt, im real familiar with dell direct, its trying to read the same specs that where sold to me.

but it should just search for the right driver for each part that it is supposed to work for
