Question Cannot use dual-monitor setup with Zotac 1060 6gb Mini ?

So I recently got a 1060 6gb CPU [Mod edit - likely typo] GPU which has 1 HDMI port and 3 Displayports. I have 2 monitors which only have HDMI and VGA ports on the back. So my main monitor works fine with the HDMI port. But I bought a Displayport to HDMI converter for the 2nd monitor, but that doesnt seem to be working correctly. The 2nd monitor detects the cable but there is no display most of the time. It actually worked correctly for a few days, but then went back to not working again. So what do I need to change?

Config:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3500
GPU: Zotac 1060 6gb mini
RAM Corsair 8GB x 2 2400mhz
Mobo: Asus b350ma

Make and model monitors?

Will the second monitor work in place of the main monitor?

It is important to methodically swap cables, adapters, and monitors around to determine what combinations work and what combinations do not work?

Make only one change a time. Determine what individual components work and which ones do not work.

My first thought is a faulty/failing DP to HDMI converter.

Also emember that you can (or should be able to) right click an empty area of the desktop to access the GPU's control panel and configuration settings.

Double check that all is as expected.

One monitor (newer one) is a LG 24MK600M. Dont know the model of the older monitor which is also an LG.

So I have used 1 HDMI cable on both monitors and they both work fine.
I have used the HDMI to DP port on both monitors, and both detect the cable but have no output.

The HDMI to DP port cable is brand new, but I also feel it could be a faulty cable. What I actually need help with, is if there is any particular type of DP port cable required or if there is some kind of version of DP port that I am not aware of, since this is the 1st time I have tried to use a Displayport.

But the fact that both monitors worked for a few days makes me doubt that it is an incompatible DP port version or something, otherwise it would never have come on.

This:

"the fact that both monitors worked for a few days makes me doubt that it is an incompatible DP port version or something "

Agree.

The prime suspect is, in my mind, the HDMI to DP port cable. Likely defective in some manner and may even work inconsistently.

Connect it up again in a configuration where the cable worked before. Then gently twist, wiggle, pull, and push the cable along its length and especially near the plugs and ports.

You may manage to make the video connection come to life again. Even if briefly.

Where was the HDMI to DP cable purchased? Brand/make model? Any listed "specs"?

Tried all sorts of configurations, but cant seem to get the 2nd monitor to come on. I bought the cable from Amazon.

Specs:
  • Convenient cable directly connects a DisplayPort (DP, DP++, DisplayPort++) equipped computer to an HDTV, monitor, or projector with HDMI input
  • Transmits high-definition audio and video from your computer to an HDTV for video streaming or gaming; Connect and configure your monitor for an Extended Desktop or Mirrored Displays
  • Supports video resolutions up to 1920x1200 / 1080P (Full HD) and flawless audio pass-thru for uncompressed digital 7.1, 5.1 or 2 channels
  • Gold-plated cord, bare copper conductors, and foil & braid shielding combine together to provide both superior cable performance and reliable connectivity
  • DisplayPort connector with latches provides a secure connection with a release button that must be depressed before unplugging

If all configurations without the Amazon cable work and if all configurations with the Amazon cable fail then the problem is the Amazon cable.

Go back to the Amazon link where you initiated the cable purchase. Take a look at any posted reviews or comments.

Also post the link to the purchased Amazon cable.

Someone may recognize the product/company and offer further comment.
