I am going to by a printer (first time). Based on information available I choose two models, more or less suitable for my purposes. Now I have to choose between
Canon S400/450 and HP940c.

If you have any experience with printers mentioned above or any useful information please reply.
If you have experience with other brands of the same class your replies are also welcome.

Obviously the HP940c! The Canon S400/450 are old and slow by today's standards.

AMD technology + Intel technology = Intel/AMD Pentathlon IV; the ULTIMATE PC processor

Is there a big difference in quality between S400 and HP940c?

I haven't seen sample prints from the S400, but I have seen them from the S300. The S300 replaces the S400. It's quality is pretty good, but it prints very very slowly. The HP might not be significantly better quality than the S400 but it will be faster.

NEVER THE S400 ! What a bad printer. If you have to choose, the choice is between the S500 and the 940c. But forget the S400. It's a slow and bad printer.

I had a very bad experience with Cannon, so I would never consider buying one again.

Furthermore, I have used HP 930(the older model) & 940 which I consider the best inkjet for the buck right now.

Well In my opnion the print quality should be the same. Dont mind the reply about the bad experience with the canon because everybody knows that canon has terrible past with inktjets. But they have greatly improved so dont judge something because of its past! I agree with AMD man that the HP is faster that the S400, but dont overlook the inktprizes. Canon dominates as its comes to cheap cartridges. The printcosts of Canon are almost 1/3 compared to that of the HP. So choose for speed or your own wallet.
