I have a mp4 video file. It is not playing in VLC.It plays in Windows media player but with no sound.Other files are playing fine in both VLC and Windows media player.I can't able to delete this file. This is the first time i am having this kind of problem with a video file. I don't think it can be some virus. Firewall / Antivirus didn't do anything.I just scanned that file using Antimalware as well as scanned the entire drives. No threats were detected.

This file is not giving any error message when i try to delete it.When i click delete or shift + delete, the pop up which shows to delete file appears somewhat later and not doing anything and sometimes not appearing at all. I tried to rename and see what happens. It is not getting renamed too.Everything hangs.I tried Unlocker ,safe mode and cmd.Nothing works. Cmd says,it can't able to find the file but the file is there. Also when you place a cursor on any file,it will show some details but placing cursor in this weird file doesn't show any details.I have this file in a folder from Drive E. When i open that folder which contains this video file,Explorer uses more CPU.

I dragged that file from drive to desktop.Just i did for no reason.I tried to delete it from desktop,it didn't work.So now there is a copy of that file in desktop as well. Now whenever i log into my pc,the explorer uses more CPU as that file is in desktop as well. I have tried all the things i know.I have no idea how to delete it.

Hmm. Try booting your computer in safe mode then attempt deleting the file
There are two conditions where you cannot delete a file.
The first is if it contains a virus or it`s running a process in windows in the back ground.

The process has to be terminated first. to allow deletion of the file.

The other is if the file options by right clicking are set to read only.

In any case it points to a virus, trojan or malware running. as a service in windows.
You want to be looking in windows system processes for an .exe or file with an obscure name not identified with a software maker. ie Microsoft

Something for example .pa124d.exe or look at the actual file name and see if a process is running with that name as a task.

Any odd named task running with no provider of who it was made by Ie: Microsoft. apple ect. with no vendor name.
Most likely a virus or trojan running on start up or execution of clicking on the file.

I know about that.No problem. This is not any virus.Somehow i managed to delete one copy of that file which i dragged to desktop before.I did this by entering in cmd from another user account. Before i made this post,i noted this solution from some other site. But this worked with that file in desktop but this same file is there in E drive. That is not getting deleted using del command plus file name. I think i am not putting the proper path for it to delete.I don't know how to do it. This file is there in E: with a folder name called as wls. I just typed in cmd as E:\> Del video file.mp4

It didn't work.

I tried it.No use. When using some software to delete this file or renaming this file gets everything hang.
