Afternoon All,

Recently ran in a problem and I am tearing my hair out and have run out of idea's.

System specs
Asus Z390 iTX
INTEL 9700K
M.2 256GB + 1TB SSD
asus VG32VQ Monitor (1440p x 144hz)
Zotac 1080ti
16GB DDR4 3600mhz
Windows 10

When booting the computer I see no bios option the screen is blank and the next screen I see is my desktop, I have pressed all the keys at bootup DEL,F2 and no luck .. boots straight to windows.

Below is what I have tried so far
  • I removed the DP cable and used HDMI still no luck (Changed output modes and tried all outputs on the monitor)
  • Removed GPU connected onboard via HDMI ... occasionally works
  • Reset the bios - still the same issue (connected 2 pins to reset also)
The only thing that works is
  • Connecting the same HDMI cable via my GPU to my 4K TV and wala works perfectly I see the boot logo
So as you can imagine this is a massive ball ache everytime I wish to enter the bios.

I was starting to think could it be a resolution issue on my monitor ? but surely if the hdmi works via TV can't be this, I also thought ah maybe the monitor is slow at turning on hence why the screen is black, when it's ready it should be in the bios screen while i am spamming F2 or Delete - Nope boots straight to windows

Any help would greatly be appreciated

Kind regards

James

  1. Navigate to settings. You can get there by clicking the gear icon on the Start menu.
  2. Select Update & security.
  3. Select Recovery from the left menu.
  4. Click Restart Now under Advanced startup.
  5. Click Troubleshoot.
  6. Click Advanced options.
  7. Select UEFI Firmware Settings.
  8. Click Restart.
You should be in the BIOS now.
