Can't access Youtube?

So recently the government lifted a temporary ban on Youtube. All my devices can access youtube except for one of the laptops. Whenever I try to go to youtube.com I get an error telling me this "The server at www.youtube.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed". I've tried to change the DNS number to google's public DNS, but to no avail.

The the NSLOOKUP command from the command window.

You can key in DNS servers by hand and see if you get different results.

nslookup www.youtube.com 8.8.8.8

Should be the same as you get if you have changed it to google. You can also use 4.2.2.2-----209.244.0.3-----208.67.222.222----- there are more if you look for public dns.

Worse comes to worse there is a file called hosts you can use to override the DNS.

C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts

Put the string in....you will need to know the ip of youtube best used by your location on your other machines but this one will work if nothing else.

nslookup didn't work with Google's dns and 4.2.2.2. I tried adding the IP into the hosts file ,but it said I needed admin rights to save the file there- I'm on an admin account.

something is blocking DNS if it s not your firewall on the pc then something else is blocking it.

You may have to lanch the file manager in admin mode. This is the same issue as issuing some command from the CMD window you must launch the application in admin mode not just be admin on the machine.

Sorry for the late response.
I didn't know how to run explorer in admin mode so I opened the file through CMD while running it as admin. This time I got a new error "The connection to www.youtube.com was interrupted"

Try different browsers if it only has issues on one it may be some junk in a cache or other area.

The only time I have seen that was related to a certificate error in firefox and it may be totally unrelated to your problem.

Rip that didn't work either. This is really weird. I remember that this happened once before a few years ago. I installed windows 7 over vista and it fixed the problem. I don't see why that would work, but it did.
