i using a Palit 9500gt 512mb 128bit. yeah, it has a fan plug onto itself. i tried to overclock it:
core clock: from 450 to 529mhz
shader clock: from 1125 to 1250mhz

i cant adjust the fan speed from vtune, msi afterburner, rivatuner and evga precision. i was plannning to plug the fan on my motherboard but i was doubting coz i dont know if it will change anything and if it is safe.

my gpu temp shoots up to 80C according to furmark(i ran the test for like 20mins).

will it change the temp if i will plug the fan to my board? or i should buy myself an aftermarket gpu fan?

thanks:)

don't go to driver settings cutomize but to target adapter customize, then click on the small graphics card icon, i think its the first little icon...

then select fixed settings, it must be there, i just tested it on my sister's pc, 9600 GT and tweaked the fan just the way i wanted it!

Some cards simply don't allow you to change the fan speed manually, no matter what you do. I have an MSi 9800GTX, and it consistently overrides any RivaTuner fan profile, no matter what you try and do to it. Seems the fan is hardware-controlled, and I'd have to flash the BIOS to override the built-in profile.

it doesn't work on all cards..
some card's fan cannot be controlled by softwares

you can do one thing...
try connecting your gpu fan wire to your psu directly...
take out the wires along with pins from the gpu fan connector and push the RED wire's pin(pin is used to hold it firmly inside) into the YELLOW part of the molex connector (the first pin of molex) and BLACK to BLACK(second pin of molex) this will give full power to the fan in other words the fan will run in full speed...
just tried it for you and it worked...
try it and let me know if it worked for you

what's a psu? (sorry man, noob here). i saw this 3 pin slot on my mobo, and it was really that near to my gpu. if that's what you're talking about then should i connect my gpu fan there?

btw, thanks :)

i don't think so... you can try that also.. i am not sure if it will get full speed when connected to mobo because it doesn't have 3rd wire to control the speed...
its worth giving a try..
but what i said will make the fan run in full speed always

yeah. searching for converters for connectors was really hard. coz here in our country, Philippines, it's really hard to get some parts for my rig. but anyway i'll give it a shot and connect my fan to the mobo. :)

wait i also have a question. it seems my gpu-z doesnt show the right clocks.
err, my v-tune was open when i the desktop was shown and i saw that the clocks on my msi afterburner was really different from the record of gpu-z.
so there, i closed the v-tune ( i was really wondering why the hell it was open.) and ima try to reboot the comp. (and start doin the fan experiment. lol)
i'll be back:)

Solution
oops it didnt get linked.. :O
well, in the first one you can see my fan connector
and in the second one you can see the pins taken out of the connector
and 2rd one you can see the pins inserted into molex

you plugged the red one on the yellow hole? ok, ima try that :)
i guess i should wait until tomorrow lol. coz its already 10:30pm here and i should sleep for my classes.

thanks btw😀
i learned so much in this thread:)
