My computer wouldn't boot and Windows displayed the inaccessible_boot_device message.
Windows' attempts to repair were unsuccessful. There are no system restore points, which I don't understand.
Since I can't get into Windows - not even safe mode - I can't install any repair program.
I tried changing my SATA mode from IDE to AHCI as suggested elsewhere, to no avail.
I booted off of Ultimate DLCD Boot DVD and am currently in a mini-Windows 7 environment.
I suspect one of two causes. I used IObit's DriverBooster to update some dozen drivers (which is supposed to create a system restore point!), one or more of which may be at fault. I also used a program called RegOrganizer to temporarily disable a number of startup entries, all of which I checked out online before disabling. In theory, that should not be the problem. The problem presumably is, as stated, one or more updated drivers.
Is there any way to roll back a driver in Windows when you can't boot into it?
Any other suggestions?
