Bought a 1tb ssd to upgrade my old PC

X58A-UD3R rev 2.0
I7 930 stock clock has ben oc before
2 x ( 3x2gb ) corsair ram
Hd 6750
850w master cooler silent, now 420w cool master.

Tried cloning old hdd to ssd got errors, ran chkdsk/f . System needed to restart went to restart black screen. Left it overnight still nothing. Turned off and ever since then cant boot into windows . Tried new install from usb and disc on the ssd, no luck. Everything loads like normal but after the bios screen it sits there with a black screen, all leds turn off and nothing happens.

Tried new power supply, re seating the CPU.

Plz help a noob. I just make beats so I'm not fussed about how old this is I just cant lose the data on here and yes I did not back up my system 🤦🏽‍♂️

Solution
Well to be honest the mobo is old and it should be failing right about now anyway.

The only other real way to fix this is reinstall windows on your old hdd.
When that is completed, use your new ssd drive as you intended it to be.

Error 23 means something is wrong with your old hdd, (bad sectors) if thats really the case.
I would consider getting a newer hard drive for your main os and your next future pc rebuild.

Start off by reading here first, make sure you read all of it.

Next if your old hdd with os is still functional, plug it back in, back up whatever important files you need.

If you are reinstalling windows to the new ssd drive, you gotta make sure that both drives have the same space.
Otherwise the cloning process will fail halfway during the process.

I recommend you use macrium reflect for hdd-ssd cloning.
If you do not want to cloning process and prefer to do a reinstall of windows, clean install windows os during the installation process.

Update:
I saw your other thread, if your windows installation on the hard drive is messed up.
Bad News: You will need to reinstall it.

Good News: there is a linux live cd-dvd-usb disc to grab your files that are important before formatting.

Unable to see if windows is still working on my hdd. I give up I'm taking it to a PC repair shop. I feel like throwing it out the window lol it's been 2 weeks 😭

I used macrium reflect v7. It made it to the last partition but failed everytime I tried to clone it. error 9 and error 23. Chkdsk/f did nothing but give me a blank screen and that's where I'm at at the moment. Cant boot from anything, I feel like the mobo is slowly dying as its 10+ years old
