Question Can't calibrate the battery on HP-14bf101nl

I replaced the dead battery of my HP 14-bf101nl with a new battery, a compatible Green Cell battery, but the charge lasted only 3 hours so I tried a Battery Check with the HP Support Assistant and it said that the battery needed to be calibrated.

I tried to follow this HP guide about manual calibration:

But when I reached the point 7 when it says to click the button to start calibration, the calibration doesn't start because it says that I have to connect the AC adapter even if in the point 1 of the guide it says that I have to disconnect it.

However I tried the calibration with the AC adapter connected but it didn't go well and after starting the notebook, the Battery Check with HP Support Assistant still says that the battery need calibration.

I also updated the BIOS and tried again the battery calibration but the result was the same.


How can I solve the problem?

Try and remove the items listed under Batteries in Device Manager, then retry the battery calibration. Something tells me it's not a genuine battery. Got a link to the battery you purchased for your laptop?

How can I post the link of the battery?

I forgot to add a step, after you remove the entries under Batteries, reboot the laptop, then try the battery calibration process.

The calibration only works with OEM batteries. You're using a generic replacement.

Did it but it still requires the calibration.
Do I have to start the OS after the reboot before do the calibration?
Because for the calibration I go in the menu that opens pressing F2 before the start of Windows.

Not unless you switch to an actual HP OEM battery.

That appears to be an actual HP OEM battery, which if it is will work just fine. Attempting to use generic batteries will always end up costing much more than simply using the correct battery in the first place.
