So I have a 144 Hz monitor, and I want to make my screen "run faster" so it will match the FPS on a game, but there is a problem. When I try to change the refreshrate/Hz, I can only choose 60 Hz. Does anyone know how to disable the 60 Hz lock?
If your trying to change it from inside Windows/Etc, you have to first enable it on the monitor settings for Windows to see it. Use the buttons attached to your monitor to do so.
Make and model of the monitor?
What cable are you using?
Are any adapters being used?
What video card are you using?
I am using a BenQ RL2455 (1920x1080, 1ms, 144Hz). I use the DVI port because my HDMI cable does not work, for a reason.
I made a threat about this: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-3384373/hdmi-cable-respond.html . I am not using any adapters. My video card is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB. Hope this helped.
Make sure its a dual link dvi cable. In the Nvidia control panel make sure you are selecting 1920x1080 under PC and not using the 1080p option under Ultra hd,hd, sd in the resolution list.
Have you tried going into your monitor settings to see if 144 is enabled? That should be your first step.
Not your monitor settings in Windows.
Using your actual monitor buttons and OSD to see if it's enabled.

I did, I tried every single tab and I could not find the Hertz ratio anywhere.
Even the RL2455HM is a 60hz monitor.
Which would explain why there is no setting in your monitor's OSD.
My parents bought my screen for my birthday and they said it was a 144Hz. Does HDMI also support 144? I have a HDMI so I can try and if that won't work, I have a 60hz.
