Hi,i would like to know if the i3 4160 is good for gaming right now.Im doubting because for the same price of the i3 and a cheap mobo,i can get the FX 6300 with a decent board and a cooler.(The board is from a friend,so its cheap) Ive seen that the FX processors are doing a great job with new games.

The 4160 is good for gaming and in the majority of instances, it will outperform the 6300. The best thing to do is check benchmarks for the games you play.

Although the 6300 has six cores it only has three modules, meaning that only three cores can be utilised at the same time. In my view, AMD are running a very misleading and malicious practice here.

The AMD processor would edge out on the i3. If you're trying to get into serious gaming you might wanna step up your game to an i5. But in the $100 or less category the FX 6300 is what you wanna go with. The heirarchy chart on this link shows where those CPU's sit.

Also in general that whole article breaks down the best CPU for the price and why.

Not if he's looking at an FX 6300 (which is what that article even recommends buying).

Personally, for gaming, I believe games would perform better on the AMD 6300. But for almost any other use, I think the Intel i3 4160 would be the better choice.

So when its going to be for gaming, get yourself the better gaming CPU. Go with the 6300.

I think you mean the FX-6350, which sits in the same tier as the 4160. The FX-6300 sits in the tier below.

The article doesn't recommend the FX-6300 as such, it's listed as an honourable mention. The article also states that the 4160 "offers slightly more performance in your favorite titles".

There's also the upgrade path to consider. If you buy the FX-6300 your only upgrade path is to the FX-8xxx, assuming that the motherboard you have is rated for 125W TDP processors. If you buy the 4160 you can upgrade to an i5, i7 or Xeon.

OP, the best thing you can do is check gaming benchmarks.

Right now i have two options:

I3-4330 for 103 euros with a MSI H97 for 40 euros(so cheap because its from a friend)
or
FX-6300 for 105 euros with an Asus M5A97 R2.o for 64 euros,and maybe a 212 evo for ocing
So,which onwe will give me better results?
