Hey guys,

Sorry for the rookie question, hope theres some elementary mistake im making. Long story short ive got an r9 390 that im trying to connect a second monitor to. The main hdmi is going to a 1080p 27", works perfectly. Im now trying to connect a 2nd monitor via a vga-dvid adaptor and its not recognising the 2nd output. Even with the hdmi plugged out, just wont see it. Ive never used a 2nd monitor on this rig but eager to get it going. Any suggestions welcome :)

Ps windows 10 64 bit

Solution
Normally it should auto detect the second monitor and play just fine. There have been some 3xx cards out there with problematic outputs, I hope yours is not one of them.

I would take a look at Catalyst control panel to see if there is a checked/unchecked option. Also ,if you haven't already, i would connect the secondary or both monitors on the motherboard outputs (assuming you can) and see what happens.

Solution
Oh that. ON the dvi plug one has markings for dvi and the other for dvi-svga. If you look the analog one has a extra pair of larger slot like plugs and pins.

If it has only one dvi plug, if it's possible it doesn't support analog svga.

I had to buy a expensive active display port to hdmi adaptor to get a 3rd monitor to work, it only supports up to 2 monitors without at least one being a active display port one. $55 later i got all 3 to work.

It's a scam so they make money on expensive adapters.
