I built a PC about a week ago and that went fine except the motherboard power supply. I can get it in, after a fair amount of pushing, and the PC will boot but the clip won't go even half way down the poking out bit where it should click. I knew this was a problem but it wasn't causing an issue till today I was playing and the PC powered off so I tuned it back on and only the hard drive would power on.

After a lot of panicking I opening it up and pushed the power cable around and it powered on. Checked temps of everything else and that came back fine so it must be this cable. I have spent 2-3 hours total trying to click it in till the point I touched the mobo against the case. I don't want to brake it preferably but any ideas? I can't push any harder!

Sorry if this is a silly question, this is a whole new world to me. Thank You!

Solution
It's a known problem with the CX and sometimes RM series power supplies from Corsair , the 24 pin clip is poorly made.

That 20+4 pin connector can be a bitch to get firmly inserted so the locking lever slips over the tab on the header. Some PSUs and/or boards are no problem. Other combinations are a real pain. All you can do is slide a finger tip under the board at that point for support and keep pushing and gently rocking the connector from end to end. (never front to back)
Also, check to be sure you have the 4 pin portion properly slipped into the 24 pin portion. It only goes one way to be correct. You may have it reversed. There are a couple different styles, I can't remember w/o one in front of me how they engage. Some slide together front to back, some top to bottom. If you have it wrong, the 4 pin section could be keeping the 24 pin section from going all the way in the socket.
