Can't connect to Internet, Wireless-N Mini Router

Hey guys. I have purchased the Wireless-N Mini Router and I am trying to connect to a friend's wi-fi down the hall. My computer is able to recognize it and it has an amazing signal to it, but I still can't access the Internet with it. I am not the smartest or brightest person when it comes to computers or anything technological, so I apologize in advance for being said noob. Here is all the information I think is needed in order to help me.

IPv4 Address: 192.168.10.100
IPv4 DNS Servers: 192.168.10.253
Manufacturer: Ralink Technology, Corp.

I am using Windows 10, if that information also helps. If anyone can figure out a solution as to why I cannot connect to the Internet with this thing, I will be truly grateful. As I said, I am trying to connect to a friend's Internet down the Hall, so resetting the Modem is out of the question since it is in his apartment. I can use help asap since I need to start making some money and I can't do that without Internet right now, so the sooner the better. Please and thank you.

Restarting the router usually fixes that issue, indeed it's often the only thing that will, so it's no good saying it's "out of the question" as it may be the only option.

Why is there this setting? IPv4 DNS Servers: 192.168.10.253 I would use 8.8.8.8 instead.
